Chart Check [Billboard 200]: Ed Sheeran’s ‘Autumn Variations’ Debuts As His 7th Top 10 Hit & Week’s Overall Top-Selling Album

Published: Wednesday 11th Oct 2023 by Rashad

Ed Sheeran is no stranger to seeing himself printed at #1 on Billboard charts and, thanks to his 7th studio album ‘Autumn Variations,’ this week serves as no deviation.

Details inside.

Ed Sheeran’s ‘Autumn Variations’

First-Week Sales (SPS): 62,000
First-Week Sales (Pure): 46,500
First-Week Billboard Placement: #4

Five months after opening at #1 on the ‘Album Sales’ chart with his May-released effort, ‘Subtract,’ Sheeran has added yet another win by repeating the feat.

Despite the 62,000 first-week total sum amounting to the lowest inaugural sales he’s collected for a studio album since his debut LP ‘+ (Plus)’ (which arrived on the wings of 42,000 units sold in 2011), ‘Autumn’ – in shifting nearly 47,000 pure sales – still landed at #1 on the current ‘Album Sales’ chart.

His first independent effort (delivered courtesy of his imprint Gingerbread Man Records), ‘Autumn’ falls as his his seventh top 5-charting album on the Billboard 200 with its #4 premiere and continues his streak of top 5 debuts.

The feat is all the more impressive given that ‘Autumn’ has no official singles or music videos to support the era.
